El Centro. most weekends from october to april i am out at Ocotillo Wells, so i wanted something that does the dunes, the washes and the 8 to San Diego without complaining. sold my 2018 Power Wagon in march.
found a 2022 TRX on the m&a listing in may. Hydro Blue, 24,600 miles, sitting at a lender yard outside San Antonio. it had a Buy Now price of 76,500 next to the usual blind bid option. i skipped the Buy Now and put in a sealed bid of 69,900 and won. no buyer's premium on mandaautollc.com, the bid is the price.
delivery: their sheet had it at 1,140 road miles, San Antonio to my driveway. first 1,000 free, 140 at 70 cents, 98 dollars. wired on a tuesday, it showed up 15 days later on a two car wedge trailer, the driver parked on the shoulder of Imperial Ave and unloaded it right there.
the one thing wrong with it: the battery was tired. it cranked slow the first two mornings, probably from sitting in a Texas yard in the heat. AutoZone tested it bad, new AGM was 239. done.

so this is where the Texas TRXs go. 69,900 for a 2022 with 24k is good money, they were going for low 70s at the dealer sales here in the spring. i paid a lot more than that new for my Launch Edition and do not want to talk about it.
look at the front tires closely. the TRX eats the inside edge of the fronts if the alignment is off even a little, and a truck that sat in a yard might have been parked on a curb for months.

neighbor from Yuma. i would have taken the Buy Now. 6,600 is the price of not lying awake wondering whether somebody outbid you by a hundred. but you won, so you were right and i am just a guy with opinions.

glamis, i thought about it for two days. what i decided was 69,900 was what the truck was worth to me after the battery and whatever tires it would need. if i lost at that number, somebody else wanted it more and i would find another one. i lost a bid on a Power Wagon replacement before this one, so i knew how that felt and it was fine.
the part that was not fine was the DMV. the title came from the bank in Texas, assigned, but the lien release was a separate letter and the copy in the envelope was not the original. the El Centro office would not take the copy. i called the broker out of independence on a monday and the original came by FedEx nine days later. so two DMV appointments instead of one. the VIN check was a DMV employee walking out to the lot with a clipboard. California use tax came to about 5,600 on top of the registration. none of that is a surprise if you have bought from out of state before. it is if you have not.
trx, fronts are even. somebody aligned it.

congrats. at 24k your Black Hawks should be in good shape, there is a TRX shock thread going over in suspension with dyno numbers if you want a baseline to compare against later. honestly worth getting yours run once now while they are healthy so you have your own curve.

reading this from Virginia where the closest dune is the Outer Banks. did you use the 30 day guarantee for anything? i always wonder what that actually covers when people mention it.

no. the first week i had a shop on 4th Street put it on a lift and go over it, 150 bucks. they found nothing but the battery, which i had already done. the 30 day money back thing covers a truck that was materially misrepresented. a three year old battery dying after a Texas summer is not that. i would feel stupid trying. the truck was what the m&a listing said it was, miles and photos and all.
first real weekend at Ocotillo Wells is october. i will report back on how it does in Blowsand.
